Even after the sugar and flavorings are digested, the sticky part of the gum passes through the intestines intact and is usually excreted in the stool within 24 to 48 hours.

This means that if you swallow chewing gum, it will not get stuck in your stomach. There is no risk of harm if you swallow it accidentally occasionally.

However, caution should be exercised in children and those with chronic constipation or digestive problems, as swallowing chewing gum in such conditions can be dangerous.
